• Tutorial - 45 godzin

Kurs będzie dotyczył głównych kierunków w filozofii europejskiej od VI w. p.n.e. do VI w. n.e. W ramach filozofii starożytnej zajmiemy się myślą presokratyków, sofistów i Sokratesa, wielkimi systemami filozoficznymi Platona i Arystotelesa, szkołami hellenistycznymi i neoplatonizmem.

• Tutorial - 45 godzin

Epistemology is concerned with such questions as “What, if anything, do we know?”, “What is knowledge?”. We will begin by looking at scientific knowledge. Despite the fact that it appears to be the most solid kind of knowledge, it has been subject to a serious skeptical challenge (Hume’s problem of induction). We will discuss the two main responses to the skeptical challenge (neo-inductivism and falsificationism), paying particular attention to their accounts of justification. In the second and main part of the course, we will take up the difficult issue of the analysis of knowledge. We will consider the challenge of Gettier’s problem. We will then consider various theories of justification (theories of the structure of knowledge) and the debate between internalism and externalism.

Celem kursu Technologii Informacyjnych i Komunikacyjnych jest dostarczenie studentom praktycznej znajomości pojęć związanych z szeroko pojętą informatyką oraz kluczowych umiejętności niezbędnych do pracy i komunikacji w dzisiejszym społeczeństwie. Studenci podczas zajęć zrozumieją kwestie bezpieczeństwa i ochrony informacji, a także zagadnienia etyczne w informatyce i sieciach społecznościowych (wcześniej wymienione zagadnienia będą tematami prezentacji przygotowanych jako praca domowa). Studenci dowiedzą się na temat zintegrowanego pakietu oprogramowania biurowego, Microsoft Office. Studenci zapoznają się z: obsługą edytora tekstowego (Word), prezentacji (PowerPoint) i arkusza kalkulacyjnego (Excel) w stopniu średniozaawansowanym. Podczas kursu studenci poznają także podstawy analizy statystycznej. Studenci zapoznają się również z podstawami tworzenia stron WWW.

• Proseminarium - 30 godzin

The first aim of this course is to provide students with basic conceptual frameworks used in main sub-disciplines of philosophy and with basic knowledge about key philosophical questions. The second aim is to give them the opportunity to discuss on a basic level fundamental philosophical problems, and to train them in formulating sound arguments and finding weaknesses in argumentation.

The course is based on John Hospers' Introduction to Philosophical Analysis. The book offers a comprehensive view of philosophy in the 20th century.

This course presents an introduction to selected topics in modern analytic ontology (also known as metaphysics). The problems discussed in the class include the following: the notions of existence, being and identity, the realism-nominalism debate, reductive theories of particulars, the elements of the metaphysics of modality, time and temporal objects. The discussions will be illustrated by articles written by contemporary analytic philosophers: Quine, van Inwagen, Kripke, Lewis, Stalnaker, Smart and others.

The course is intended to cover basic topics in contemporary philosophy of language. Special attention will be paid to problems in semantics and pragmatics, i.e. semantic conception of truth, infernetialism and directival theory of meaning, semantics of indexical expressions and tenses, belief reports, theories of proposotional content.

The main aim of political and legal philosophy course is to present theories of political community from their historical and philosophical perspectives uncovering their main assumptions and values. Analyzing conceptions of political and legal philosophy students will be acquainted with the most important problems related to these conceptions. During the meetings we will focus especially on the normative models of politics and law and their justificatory function referring to classical and contemporary texts. Main texts will be also confronting with particular case studies.

• Tutorial - 45 godzin

The goal of the tutorial is to introduce students to the problems of social philosophy based on classical texts from the field. Central to the course will be an understanding of how community, society and the state are presented in social philosophy, as well as what concepts and categories are derived from these classical assumptions today.
